I walk into the class room and twenty sets of little eyes look up.
I walk down the street and little voices call greetings out from the houses tucked in behind the bushes.
I walk onto the bus and the little boy three seats in front of me is suddenly mesmerized.
Little kids live life in awe. Constantly consumed by curiosity. Their little eyes forever playing a game of ‘I Spy’. They absorb all they see; shaping their minds for the rest of their lives.
There are so many people I look to and admire, yet they don’t even know it. They naturally live their lives I ways I can only strive for. They don’t live this way because they know they are my role models, they do this because they live the lives God has laid out for them. They live by their convictions. I am like a child. My little eyes are focused in on them. Absorbing everything. Shaping my mind.
For every person I look up to and respect, there is one who looks up to and respects me. It could be someone who I pass on the street or someone I have known for years. Someone’s little eyes are focused on me. Absorbing everything. Shaping their mind.
I want my life to be a life of righteousness. I want my life to be an example to bring God glory. I want to live this way even when I don’t think anyone is watching. I want my life to forever point people towards the Lord.
I want my life to point all the little eyes towards Jesus.
With much love,
Jill
In less than 40 days I will be back in the land of snowy winters, mucky springs, and really good donuts! This is the surreal home stretch with only one month left. I ask for your prayers more than ever right now. Please pray that we all remain focused on our life here in Nicaragua, and that are prepared for our journey home. Goodbyes and transitions are going to be hard. Pray for effective ministry and strength to endure the hot days. Some cool things are happening on this island! See y’all soon!
