The Gap Year D family is already learning some lessons, and we aren’t even out in the world yet. We are being attacked. Luckily, we are learning to overcome.

Satan is running rampant.

He is attacking our group. He’s leading people to fall away, tricking them into believing beliefs that aren’t of God. A while back, there was an article written about Adventures in Missions stating that it is a cult. That we should turn and run far from AIM and the work they do. Satan has caused the Gap Year fam to doubt where God has placed us; to doubt where we have all so clearly been called. We’ve been placed into the middle of a spiritual battle.

Then Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are standing in My way. You are not thinking how God thinks. You are thinking how man thinks.” -Matthew 16:23

I like to call this verse from Matthew the Sassy Jesus verse, because Jesus totally just sasses off Satan. This is a verse that has been coming to my mind lately, and its how we should be acting. I’m learning to push what Satan is saying behind me, and to focus the fact that God has called me to be on Gap Year. Satan isn’t telling us what God wants us to believe, and he is leading us astray. He is preventing us from jumping fully into God’s wonderful plans.

I ask for your prayer for our group as we battle our way through this. Prayer as we learn to come to terms with the loss of people from our group, for comfort as we think about who and what we will be leaving at home for nine months, and for peace in knowing that we are doing God’s work.

Things will never be easy, but I know things can get better.

Love,

Jill
