Please read my teammate Ashley's blog by clicking on the link posted above. I was blessed with the opportunity to meet this woman yesterday. On top of her grief about her daughter, she told us she was informed by her doctor that she has cancer (either cervial or ovarian). I stood in her living room listening to her speak with tears in my eyes as she told some more of her story. I had to walk away when she began asking some tough questions about God because I wasn't in a place to give her answers at that moment. Ashley and Jennifer from another team stayed behind and talked with Asuma, reading the letters sent to her from her daughter's husband. Ashley later told me that everything about Asuma's life is beginning to make more sense. Piece by piece her story is coming together. For updates on Asuma's story, check back to Ashley's blog. I also hope to spend more time with this woman before I leave Latvia. Please keep her in your prayers.
