Applying for the World Race, preparing for the World Race, and actually embarking on the journey of the World Race are three completely different seasons of emotions.  In applying for the Race you are filled with an excitement of the possibility of to 11 countries over the span of 11 months, serving others, and living out of a backpack.  After being accepted for the Race you are filled with an anticipation to start the journey.  The excitement continues and you are ready to step outside of your comfort zone to serve the Lord.  Actually being on the World Race destroys every expectation you have had prior (even if you didn’t think you had any expectations).  You realize that ministry is not what you thought it would look like, that everyday is not going to be an exciting adventure, you may not see the Lord work in ways you thought you would, you will see the Lord work in ways you did not imagine.  Living out of a backpack is not as great at it sounded, I did not realize that stepping outside of my comfort zone would mean that I literally had to be uncomfortable more times than not, I do not wake up every morning excited for what will come next…But I would not change anything.

This is not what I signed up for, but it is so much more.

What would be the point of going on the Race if it was going to be easy?  Would you learn anything?  Would you grow at all?  I said I was ready to be challenged and that is exactly what is happening.  I am the most uncomfortable than I have ever been, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.Applying for the World Race, preparing for the World Race, and actually embarking on the journey of the World Race are three completely different seasons of emotions.
