I have to admit, before I completed training camp for the
World Race, I was a bit of a dummy myself. I went with few expectations other
than to learn about some of the cultural aspects of some of the countries to
which we will minister, to meet the other racers on our squad and to try out
our camping gear. I knew we’d spend some time in praise & worship and I
figured we would have a few pastoral messages, but I had no idea that God had
already planned to peel back some layers and unveil some more of his spirit to
me. It was freakin’ awesome.

My advice to future World Racers headed to training camp is
to humble yourself to be open to new things. You might be wondering…”what could
that be? I have a solid background of spiritual teaching and feel pretty
well-equipped.” Ha! That’s exactly what I thought. Just try to remember that
what God plans to do to unleash some more of his spirit is different for all of
us and it’s going to be unique for you, so you can’t come here thinking you know
what it could be. Then, when you have one of those breakthrough moments and you
think, “Yes, that’s it!”…be prepared for more, because there is SO MUCH MORE.
Remember to be accepting that the people around you are going to be
experiencing different & unique things to them and you might feel like
you’re still one step behind, but the cool thing is that no two people are ever
going to be at the same spiritual level as anyone else. Think about that! The
folks you’ll meet here at training camp are all just a bunch of people who know
Jesus but are hoping to fall MORE CRAZY IN LOVE WITH JESUS!
