After an amazing month in Lesotho we went to Nsoko, Swaziland. In this month all 60 of my squad members were together. Our ministry was going to care points where we played with children and built relationships with the cooks, who are called aunties. The ministry was very difficult for me. Most of the children didn’t have shoes and their clothes were torn. It was even more difficult because the children did not know English, so our way of showing Jesus to them was just loving them. The surroundings in Swaziland were also very difficult. In Lesotho I was surrounded by mountains and people were open to the gospel. In Swazliand I was surrounded by dirt and not many people were open to hearing about the gospel. Mentally and physically it was a tough month for me. I took bucket showers, slept in a church with 23 other people, and got smacked by dust and wind whenever I walked outside.
Although it was tough for me I grew closer to God. The only way to get wifi was to wait for a taxi(in Africa that could be waiting for two hours) and go to a restraunt, which I chose not to do. I decided to draw near to my Heavenly Father instead of going to my earthly father like I wanted to. Morning and night I was reading the bible and praying. I am thankful for the growth I had despite the difficult ministry.
Also I got to hold two more Beauty for Ashes events. One was for the girls of our squad and we talked about being satisfied in singleness. It was a beautiful night that brought us closer together. The second was for the community of women in Swazliand. About 30 women came and about 10 girls of the squad helped me and Katie(the other beauty for ashes coordinator). We all worked together and it felt like a church should. Each girl used the gifts God has given them and in turn God made it a beautiful event. We spoke about how God takes all of your shame away by telling the story of the woman at the well. I could tell God was working on the hearts of many of the women and I am so thankful for being a part of it.
