Greetings from Thailand!

Who all has been watching/reading the news??

If you have, you know that Thailand, as of today, is under a military coup. (why is such a cute word used for such a serious matter??)

A few days ago, martial law was declared, and the situation has escalated to the point that the military believes it needs to step in.

Now that I’ve said the words “the situation has escalated,” everyone at home, take a deep breath and do not panic.

We are safe.

While we have been kept informed and have taken measures to avoid certain areas and stay safe, we personally have not felt threatened.

BUT

It is a serious situation, and people have been injured and died during this political conflict between the Red Shirts (pro-government) and Yellow Shirts (anti-government).

As part of the military coup, there is a curfew from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.

We were in downtown Bangkok when the curfew was posted.

The mall was packed with people trying to grab food and last-minute items before heading home.

Buses and taxis were stuffed with passengers and the roads were packed with cars.

Sidewalks were full of people and occasional motorcycles.

We walked a few miles because it was much faster, and arrived “home” safely and with time to spare.

We don’t know what will happen, but we are believing we are here for a reason.

When I was on the airplane flying into Thailand, this song played on my iPod.

“Greater things are yet to come, and greater things are still to be done in this city.

Greater things are still to be done here.”

Pray for Thailand.

It may be meant for evil, but God can use it for good. (Genesis 50:20)
