Month 4.
San Pedro de Barva, Heredia, Costa Rica.
Ministry: Glory Christian School and Zoe Life Church
Purpose/Goal: teaching English and Bible classes in the school, painting, remodeling and cleaning the school, loving on the people of communities in the area through street evangelism, encouraging, sharing testimonies and praying for the church.
Things I learned:
God desires a heart of adoration. As He pursues hard after us, He wants us to pursue hard after Him. (check out my previous blog for some thoughts on this subject)
God’s Word is alive and powerful. It’s loaded with so much good stuff. We can’t truly read and study and desire to obey, and not be changed.
The Holy Spirit is essential to truly understand and then be changed.
Cosecha’s Smoothies are the bomb. Nothing more needs to be said. 🙂
Prayer should never, ever be understimated. Ever.
Highlights:
Every morning we had devotions with our awesome contacts and we would dig into the Word. They challenged us to really believe and follow what it says. So many good thoughts, honesty in struggles and testimonies, and moments of worship and conviction. It was refreshing.
Costa Rica really is beautiful…and I’m so thankful I got to enjoy God’s expression of Himself every day—including in rain showers!! I had only seen rain once on the race before Costa Rica, so they were welcome!
I loved ziplining on Cloud Mountain!!
I really enjoyed the class I had the privilege of teaching. They were so precious and have bright futures ahead of them. It was such a blessing to feel their little hands resting on my shoulders, and listening to the prayers of God’s young warriors interceding for me before I left.
We were so blessed and challenged by the faithfulness of these brothers and sisters in Christ in Costa Rica. This month felt a lot like home, and sometimes I found myself sitting back a little, and getting comfortable. But seeing them so faithfully serve every day encouraged me to do the same, no matter where I am.
You don’t have to be anywhere “exotic” or unusual to faithfully serve Christ. Choose. Choose to obey. Choose to follow. Choose to be faithful in His strength. It will not be in vain.
Steady your knees. Strengthen your hands. Straighten your back, beautiful friend. Take a deep breath. And choose to keep doing what you’re doing.
It does not and will not go unnoticed by the One Who knows the number of hairs on your head.

In other news:
At the end of April, we had Squad debrief, which resulted in new squad leaders and team changes.
So without further ado, here is… Team DIVERGENT!!!
Yes, we are the same group of people, but no, we are not the same team. We don’t always understand His ways. Honestly, our team staying the same surprised us. But here we are!!
And I’m excited to see what Abba Daddy does next… 🙂
…in Thailand!!!
