Sitting in the early morning stillness, except for the dogs barking and the sound of cars driving over the cobblestone streets.

*pinch* I’m in Guatemala? 🙂

It’s so hard to believe…yesterday I was sitting in one of the hammocks and had one of those mini revelation moments.

I’m sitting in a hammock. in Guatemala. on the World Race.

On Saturday, we were able to go tour the city. Antigua is so beautiful…cobblestone streets, cute little shops, colorful buildings with volcanoes, big blue skies and puffy clouds as the background.

The people are friendly and the children will shyly smile and whisper “hola” before hiding behind their mother’s colorful skirts…

Precious souls.

As I said already, our ministry will probably be in schools, but we are still not sure what all of that will look like or what our roles will be. School begins later this week, so we have had some down time to go exploring, get settled in, practice spanish, and rest up for what’s ahead.

There are two teams at the Nuevo Generacion youth center, where we are staying. Living in close quarters can sometimes be challenging…

Yesterday was a good day, but it reminded me how important community and communication are going to be during this journey.

Every person has her own story and unique gifts. personal fears, personal wounds and struggles…weaknesses and strengths… and while we all call each other family…

sometimes it feels like we are just a family of strangers.

And that sometimes makes me want to run back home to what I know. and to what and who knows me.

But I believe so much beauty will come from these relationships. Despite the awkward stages, the tough talks, the loving and forgiving…

Beauty will be seen in the laughter, the tears, the hugs and kisses, the crazy antics and conversations, the vulnerability, the teamwork in expanding Christ’s kingdom and learning to love each other as He loves…

That’s worth starting out as a family of strangers. 🙂

Love and prayers to all of you.

Dios te bendiga.
