Well, the days of launch are almost complete…and the only thing left is the actual launch tomorrow…
5 squads, passionate to make a difference in God’s world…broken, and yet mended in our Savior will be headed out on this crazy World Race adventure…
The last three days have been filled with sessions and exhortations, soul-searching and sharing…surrendering, and re-surrendering…laughter and late nights…tissues and tears…freezing toes and chilly hands after walks in the freezing Atlanta evenings, good-byes and hellos…
God has spoken to me personally through many of the sessions…and while I know that each person’s journey is unique, I have discovered how easily I compare myself and my journey to the many other people around me…One evening God spoke into this by pointing out these verses to me.
I am the Bread of Life, whoever comes to me shall not hunger and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. John 6:35
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me, and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'” John 7:37
Stop looking around you, My daughter. Look up to Me.
I am what will satisfy.
I will fill every hunger and drown every thirst.
I am what lasts.
God has been speaking into many other areas, as well. Pair that with the fact that I am leaving friends and family for 11 months, and I am often a big emotional mess, and my heart doesn’t really know what to do with itself…
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26
While God asks for surrender, He does not ask us to remain broken. If going deeper with Him means more pain in the process of gaining a heart of flesh–a heart with deeper feeling, deeper emotion, deeper journey, that’s where I want to go…
…because He promises joy instead of mourning, light in place of darkness, and when we are willing to give Him what we have…and accept what He gives, we can love others deeply and freely. We can escort the Kingdom into this world…
I’m empty and weak on my own…but holding Abba Father’s hand…I can look at tomorrow…and the next day…and the next day…in His strength. through His eyes. for His glory.
I encourage you to ask yourself what areas of your heart God might be wanting to soften, to heal, and to restore this year.
And I pray you can believe and walk in faith knowing that He is doing something new.
Let the future begin! And know that you do not walk alone.

Tomorrow A Squad leaves for Guatemala. My team, team Mighty Love, and Team Agape will be serving in Antigua, Guatemala with an organization called Nuevo Generacion. I am not entirely sure what all ministry will look like, but at this point it may involve some teaching in schools, teacher support/training, manual labor, and very basic spanish translation.
I invite you to pray for A Squad as we head out to our first country. Pray for safety, peace, and increased sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.
To God be the glory!!! 🙂
