That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”
Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.
A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
Mark 4:35-41
Many times I like to see Jesus as a quiet, gentle, soft-spoken man…
Other times (like in this story), He is portrayed as a strong man, filled with power and might…entrenched in the middle of sticky situations and danger.
That can scare me.
God is not always a God of safety, comfort or reason…sometimes what He calls me to do…what He invites me to…is hard.
And inside, I feel chaos.
And I wonder how He can and will handle it…and I hope He remembers that I feel lost in the mess.
The truth is…
What He invites us to…what He asks of us is not chaos to Him. He sees the whole picture. He desires we trust Him…Who He is.
He is unshaken. He is unmoved. He is unflinching and yet gentle and sensitive…
…sensitive to the fact that we are but a breath…sensitive to the fact that we are human. and He is God.
When we invite Him, He can calm the stormy chaos in our hearts. When we trust Him, He will lead us.
And when we have Him…we can embrace the journey.

So launch is in two weeks…Time at home is precious, and embracing the journey, as it gets closer is sometimes hard for me.
I know that the rest of A Squad is also feeling the many emotions that come with leaving and letting go…and embracing this new opportunity.
Keep us in your prayers in the next two weeks? Thanks, friends.
May His love, peace, and strength speak into any chaos or hardship you are facing…
Now…in this moment.
PS. Merry CHRISTmas! π
