I made a small step in a big direction the other night. Since getting home from the Race I have had something missing, something important … community. Community doesn’t come easy for me, it’s one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced. Community requires vulnerability. Vulnerability requires openness. Openness means rejection … at least that’s what my chronic fear tells me.

Community is like being free in a self-imposed cage. I know, that doesn’t make sense, but Christian community doesn’t make sense. In what ways does it make sense to trust people who haven’t done anything to earn your trust; to expose your flaws, fully believing that you will be loved where you’re at; and to fight for relationships with people that may only have one thing in common with you, Jesus?
