“Have I not loved them as much as I have you?
Rich or poor, crusty or clean?
So come….Love as I have loved.”
Picture this for a second:
Dark brown eyes staring straight into my heart, black hair full of playful volume, and smiling lips with crumbs on them from days past.
With both hands placed on mine, this little boy looks straight at me and starts to speak in Spanish something that I know was dear to his heart. He was looking to me for guidance to his question but in that moment I had no idea what he was saying. I don’t know his language but somehow the Lord wanted me to love him still.
So in my exhaustion from a long day, I began to practice the love that I know has no language boundaries.
Love that……
Is Patient
Is Kind
Does not envy
Does not boast
Is not proud
Does not dishonor others
Is not self-seeking
Is not easily angered
Keeps no record of wrong
Does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth
Always protects
Always trusts
Always hopes
Always preserves
LOVE THAT NEVER FAILS
This love is tender and gentle and is always looking for a way to comfort. This love is not designed to win Nobel Peace Prizes, but to win the hearts and lives of the people who are most dear to our Father in Heaven.
And Jesus said to me,
“Let the little children come to me”
So I just loved this little boy. I listened to him and hugged him when he needed comfort. I played with him and opened his snack for him.
NO WORDS NEEDED
Hi everyone!
Things are amazing here in Guatemala. This is the third week we have been here and the Lord has already taught me so much. The ministry that I am at is called Nueve Generacion and God is truly in the midst of it.
So what am I doing?
I am living in Antigua, Guatemala at the Youth Center house. It is owned by our host Luis Castillo. There are three teams and two squad leaders here to make a total of 23 people under one roof.
Every day I walk about 15 minutes to a daycare/school to help teach a bunch of 5 year-olds. I do this from 8am till 12pm. It is wonderful. Some of the other ministry that these teams are doing is construction, teaching English, and teaching values classes to students in public schools. Every Friday we have a bible study and during our off time we climb mountains and go hammocking. Life here is pretty awesome. I feel very blessed in Guatemala. There can be some difficult days but God has been so faithful these past few weeks.
I am so excited to keep you all in the loop so I will post a blog next with just photos:)
Thank you all so much for your support and prayers and I pray that you all are doing well. Just remember The Lord’s faithfulness even in the dry seasons.
With Much Love
Jessica
