Hello from Albania!!!!

My team has been in Tirana, the capital of Albania, for 10 days now.
This month we are serving with IPA Tirana (International Protestant Association) right in the middle of the city.
Our ministry this month consists of serving in several different ways…
*We are working with the Roma camp: bringing them a warm meal, playing with the children, and praying for the people.
*We are going out into the city, praying in the streets against the spiritual warfare here and against a second mosque being built in the city. (Albania is a mostly Muslim county)
*On Friday, Saturday, and Sundays, my team is involved with the youth and children’s programs here at IPA.
This includes playing games with the kids, teaching lessons, singing songs, and simply encouraging their walk with Jesus!!!
*Some other things include practical work like cleaning, organizing, giving staff members encouragement and lift, prayer for the church, sharing testimonies with the church members (Glory to God for a testimony!!!!), and being involved in worship (shoutout to my team-mates Amber and Anne who are so musically gifted!!!!!)

So far our time here has been filled with ministry days, and we are loving every bit of it!!!!
The spiritual atmosphere here is quite different than from Bulgaria and Romania. There is an openness here that I haven’t felt before.

Some background info about Albania……..
Albania was under Communism until 1990, and during those years (1946-1990) it was a dark time. Terror basically ruled the atmosphere and freedom was no where in sight! In the past 25 years, Albania has grown immensely while struggling to find identity. Most Albanians spend hours in the coffee shop because a lot of their culture is shaped by what they see in American movies and t.v shows (like what they see on FRIENDS). Most Albanians identify themselves as Muslim, Catholic, or Orthodox; however the Christian community is growing. Typically they identify with what their family is.

We have gone out for street evangelism now a few times and had some interesting conversations with some college age students.
One girl in particular mentioned that knew about Jesus and was open to learning more but there were others who strongly defended their Muslim or Catholic faith.

We still have about 2 and a half weeks left here!!!
I know we all are looking forward to what is to come in that time!!!!

TEAM CHANGE……..
This month is Manistry month.
That means that all the men are together doing ministry this month so all the women are together as well.
Teams changed around a bit and now I am on a team with 7 wonderful women.
It’s been a blessing to get to do life with each of them. Each one of them brings something unique to our team and I am so excited to learn from each one!!!!
We will stay in this team for the this month and then transition back to our first team next month!!!
