Cambodia has some FANTASTIC shopping. If you are ever in Phnom Penh, go to the Russian Market. Jewelry, textiles, and movies galore. If you are ever in Siem Reap, go to the Night Market. So. Stinkin’. Good. The Russian Market was one of our favorite hangouts on our off-days! And it’s right across the street from the Yejj Cafe and Rajana, an amazing restaurant and store that support women rescued from trafficking, land mine victims, and other similar groups.

One of the goals for certain members of our team this month: eat a tarantula. So one day before ministry, we set out in search of edible arachnids! Didn’t have to search long…

We also got a bottle of “Snake Wine”– it’s basically whiskey with a dead cobra floating in it. I really don’t understand the appeal, but Nathan and Andrea had to try it. So we picked out a spider, got a bottle of snake wine, and set up camp at an outdoor patio restaurant. This was the setup:

They both had Coke chasers to wash down the wretchedness, and we brought speakers and an ipod to play some “get pumped” music– the song of the moment was “Aerials” by System of a Down.

Andrea ready to go!

Nathan takin’ the snake wine like a champ.

Conquered!
Fun times at Cambodian markets 🙂
