So I’m sitting in the terminal in JFK, waiting to board our flight to Paris and then on to Kiev, Ukraine (but you won’t read this for a while– airport Wi-Fi is FREAKISHLY expensive so I’ll post later). Mom and Dad dropped me off at the airport at 4:15 this morning, and they did a wonderful job– I was the only one who cried! I don’t think the reality of 11 months has hit, it’s just leaving everything I know behind that’s getting to me. Even here in NY I’m clinging to anything and everything familiar before I take the plunge…

I’m in Paris!! Sadly, just in the airport– but Paris nonetheless! And let me tell you, I want to learn French so bad I just can’t stand it. I keep using the 5 words I know just trying to fake it. The plane over here wasn’t too bad– I had an aisle seat, woohoo! And they had a ton of movies and shows to watch (I watched Friends, Inglourious Basterds, and Sherlock Holmes, in case you were wondering. I should have slept.) Technically the flight was only six and a half hours, but we left JFK at 8 pm on the 16th and arrived in Paris at 10:15 am on the 17th. So the day is just beginning over here, and for me it feels like 4 am. Ouch.
We’re waiting on our flight to Kiev, Ukraine– flight #4 in 24 hours for me! We have some idea of what we’re doing there, but plans can change so I won’t write about it until we get there… it sounds AMAZING though!

Hanging out in the hostel in Kiev– this city is amazing! We walked around for a bit and now we’re just sitting and chatting with the other hostel guests, a group of Brits on a huge backpacking trip through all of Europe. This is stinking amazing.
We’ll spend the day in the city just hanging out tomorrow, (taking pictures 🙂 until we get on our OVERNIGHT TRAIN!!! YEAAAAH! I’m so stinkin’ excited, and I think we have a sleeper car– I’ve always wanted to go on a long train ride! I might be over it pretty quickly after hour 12, but for now… I’m stoked 🙂
