The month of ministry in Nicaragua for my team and I, was filled with the unexpected.
After we unpacked our things and spent one week of ministry in Palacaguina, we learned that we would be leaving to spend the rest of the month serving in León. More unexpectedly, once we arrived in León we were greeted by our ministry host Pablo – a Korean man who speaks Korean, Spanish and very little English.
I quickly became very fond of Pablo and his wife.
From the day we met, they took care of us as if we were their own children. They gave us sunscreen, hats and work gloves – making sure we were well prepared for the hard work we would be doing. And then, there were the days when Pablo would treat us to ice cream, iced coffee, candy and other sweets after long days of working in the sun.
My favorite times were the nights when Pablo would cook Korean food for us for dinner. It was delicious!
I never would have thought I would experience Korea while serving in Nicaragua, but through his generosity, hospitality and delicious food, Pablo gave us a taste of his homeland. Because of him I will have experienced 12 countries by the end of the World Race.
Gracias Pablo!
My face in no way describes how excited I was to be eating this delicious food!
