This month its been all about the construction!
It is the vision of our ministry contact, Pablo, to build a Christian center that will include a missionary house, a school, an outdoor gymnasium, a chapel and other facilities.
Since arriving in Leon, our team has been working to lay the foundation for the chapel.
Now I’m no stranger to manual labor but, by day three of construction, I was pretty irritated with how dirty I was getting from the day’s work and found myself losing energy. As our team went through the process of “harvesting” rocks, shoveling dirt and pounding the earth – the Holy Spirit spoke to me about the honor of laying the foundation for God’s holy temple. I began praying over the rocks being added to the foundation that they would do what The Lord has destined them to do – be solid. I realized what a privilege it is to serve The Lord and His servants in this way!
As our team continues to lay the foundation, I often think about Jesus’ words in Matthew 7 about wise and foolish builders.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matthew 7:24-25 NIV
This month has strengthened our team physically and spiritually and I am thankful that we are growing in relationship with one another as unified builders whose houses stand on the Solid Rock that is Jesus Christ.
