When God makes a promise, you can rest assure that He is faithful to fulfill it.
On Thursday, January 9 when I landed at the Guatemala City airport, I had no idea what to expect. But as soon my feet touched the Guatemalan soil, there was a peace that hovered over me. I knew God had already prepared for this place and my heart to meet.
Three of our teams joined together this month to partner with Shofar Ministries. Shofar Ministries, commonly known as Ministerios Casa Verde, is a community oriented ministry that focuses on sharing God’s love with orphans, the elderly, the poor, churches, street kids and the children living inside the city garbage dump.
Ministerios Casa Verde directors Paul and Hilda Tonetti started the ministry seven years ago with a vision of equipping missionaries to be able to go out and make a difference within the Puerto Barrios community.
The ministry house that our teams are living in was a recent blessing to Paul and Hilda – just eight days before our arrival. After a bit of resistance, the owner of the property agreed to let them rent the space for the month. The three room house is holding all 19 of us safe and sound. The girls are especially spoiled to have showers in our rooms! But what’s even more special about this house it the 22 acres of land behind it.
On Sunday after we got back from church, Paul and Hilda escorted us out back to walk around the land, pray and later share any visions or things we heard from God. God spoke and our group had lots to share. We were all on one accord that this was the land God has promised Paul and Hilda to expand Ministerios Casa Verde and fulfill their dream of opening a youth camp for the children and teens of Puerto Barrios.
As we circled around Paul and Hilda and shared the visions and words we heard, someone pointed up to the sky. And there it was – a beautiful rainbow.
We all stared at the sky in awe of our mighty God who keeps His promises and marveled at His loving kindness to remind us of those promises.
“The rainbow that I have put in the sky will be my sign to you and to every living creature on earth. It will remind you that I will keep this promise forever.” Genesis 9:12-13
When I think of God’s promises to me, I think on His word that says He will never leave me nor forsake me, that He is with me always even until the end and the promise that I can trust Him with my life.
When God makes a promise, you can rest assure that He will fulfill it because His word cannot return to Him void.
What are the things God has promised you?
Think on those things. Grab ahold of them.
And never let them go!
