"Jessica you don't need the World Race you need a man." XXXX
Anger, hurt, confusion and pity were among the sea of emotions I felt after reading this response to my support letter.
And there are others who have said, "Jessica, you're not the first person to go through this. You don't have to run away to be healed."
My dear friends, I have failed some of you.
Through vulnerably sharing a part of my story, it seems that my intentions for embarking on this World Race journey have been questioned.
I’d like to take a moment to set the record straight. Yes! It is true that through a broken engagement God spoke to my inner GPS and said, “Recalculate.” But a broken engagement is not the reason I go.
I go because I have been called to serve.
Yesterday, my sister shared with me a daily devotional by Oswald Chambers entitled, “The Missionary’s Goal.” It reads, “The goal of the missionary is to do God’s will, not to be useful or to win the lost. A missionary is useful and [s]he does win the lost, but that is not [her] goal. [Her] goal is to do the will of [her] Lord.”
My #1 goal in life is to please God. Though there have been many times when I have gone my own way, I’m thankful that I’m always given another chance to recalculate and refocus on what matters most.
So I go.
