Going on the race has been the greatest adventure.

I have seen so many breath taking landscapes and truly experience the wildness of God’s heart.

These have been some of the best of days and some of the worst of days I have ever experienced but I am so happy to have this crazy journey.

Zambia:

Last month was a crazy one. Going into the race I knew we were put in one country for a month but I didn’t expect to pack up and move every week to a new location. We spent our month in two separate villages and 1 week in the city of Chipata.

My team and I had a great time bonding and working together. We laughed and cried and laughed some more as we all worked through this time of transition.  So many changes: having bats for room mates, taking bucket showers outside in the bush, squatty potties, bats in the squatty potties (so many funny stories about that one), no electricity, no running water and defiantly no Wi-Fi. Haha. What a great time!

Some highlights from Zambia:

Madzimoyo has my heart. This village was the first ministry site we stayed at. I had so many amazing first time experiences there. The sheer beauty of the untouched landscape was better than any movie I have ever seen. I could stare off until the wild mountains of Zambia forever. Walking down the dirt road to my home (a brick building with no windows that at times felt like a dungeon) with a child holding on to every finger, playing netball with the local women and sharing laughs as I learned the language are all things I will never forget.

We got to serve the children through sports, church, and even painting their nails..Boys included!

The children here have a whole new level of joy that I have never seen anywhere else in my life. Some of the children I met are not cared for by their parents, they may not have shoes, clothes, or food but they come running to my house to play and they don’t leave until well after the moon is out.  Full of laughter and happiness they taught me to appreciate the little things. I was smothered in hugs and experienced constant laughter although at times it was hard for me to find joy knowing that soon I would have to leave.

Their joy has called me to a whole new level of joy.

They have called me to a whole new level of living everyday to the fullest.

They have taught me what it looks like to be humble and thankful in all circumstances.

I had such a wonderful time and learned so much. God is good.

I have so many great picture but the wifi is pretty limited and I can’t seem to get them to upload 🙁

I will post more soon!
