“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
A question has been
raised recently at Adventures in Missions, specifically to the women. I’ve heard it once before, at a World Race
training camp last fall actually. It
caught my attention, but since then it’s slipped back into a folder in my brain
somewhere that I haven’t been accessing lately.
This is a question I’d like to ask all women who claim to live a life of
faith. Remember this is out of love.
Here goes…
Are you a woman of
faith or fantasy?
How much time do we
as women, especially if we’re single, give to our fantasy of finding the
“right guy, planning our wedding day, decorating our house or having
babies? You fill in the blanks
here. If you’re married, your list of
fantasies will look a little different.
It doesn’t have to be related to relationships either. The point is what are we spending our
emotional and mental energy on instead of the Lord? What are we putting more thought into than
the present and what He’s calling us to now?

I’m not suggesting
that we kill our dreams. That’s not it
at all. The Lord places desires and
dreams inside of us that will come to fruition one day. I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with
having hope of the Lord fulfilling your deep down heart’s desires and passions
that line up with His goodness and truth.
We have a great capacity for faith. So much of the time though we put our faith in the things of this world instead of the things of the Spirit.
As women, the Lord has
placed in certain gifts. We tend to see potential in people and in circumstances, especially when those things line up with our hearts’ desires.
What if our hearts’ desires where aligned with the Father’s? Can you even imagine the possibilities?! What great faith we could have!
Are you a woman of
action or distraction?
Are we using these gifts to create
fantasy and go into escapism, or are we building our faith up in the Lord and
calling out His greatness in His body all around us?
These are some tough
questions that I have to ask myself.
It’s not pretty to look into the depths of my heart and mind and see
some garbage there that I’m adding to, that is smelling up my heart and
hindering the impact I could be having on the world around me.
Don‘t let the gifts He’s given you be distorted by the enemy. Rise up and stand for truth and love and beauty TODAY.

Let’s take our minds
off of “the lesser things and focus steadfastly on the face of Jesus.
Let’s be women of
faith and not of fantasy.
Let’s be women of
action and not distraction.
We have a message of
love and hope and joy. Let’s live it out
today!
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:6
