After months of preparation, the day has finally come.  Earlier today I found myself waiting in the Memphis airport for my flight into Atlanta. Tomorrow, Lord-willing, I will meet up with my Squadmates.  So I guess this is the first day of the next 11 months of my life.  Crazy.  Leaving my home and my family was painful…really difficult.  Reality is usually not what you think it’s going to be like.  Without my cell phone I feel weirdly cut off from everyone.  I never thought I was super dependent on it.  I knew I had it if I needed it though.  Now I don’t.  Adjustment number one.  The verse that I read this morning in the comfort and safety of my home brings me comfort now in the airport and for the journey ahead:

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ “
  John 8:12

Wow.  What a promise Jesus gave.  If we’re following Jesus we will NEVER walk in darkness.  We have the Light of life.  God knew I would need that verse of encouragement and promise today.  He’s so good to provide just what we need at just the right time.

MONTH 1, SEPTEMBER 2011:

This next month my Squad is traveling to Romania and my team, Anchors of Hope and Team Rhema will be working together at THIS orphange.  The plan is to help out with a construction project and with the children there.  Please check out the website!  I’m super excited about this first month!  I’m pumped to be paired with Team Rhema and to get to know my own teammates better.

I really want to thank all of you that have/are supporting me.  The finances, the prayers and the words of encouragement mean so much.  I am thankful for your continued prayers for me and my squad.  I couldn’t be doing this without your support and am blessed to have so many people be a part of this journey.

This past month at home with my family has been a HUGE blessing to me.  I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to be there for that extended amount of time.  Mom, Daddy, Suzanne, Allison and Caroline, I miss y’all like crazy already.  You have no idea.

“We give thanks to You, O God, we give thans, for Your Name is NEAR; men tell of Your wonderful deeds.”
Psalm 75:1

Seeking after Him,
