I have been thinking for a few days how to write this really incredible blog to tell you all about something really incredible about did during our outing at the park. I have decided to just tell you without any embellishments because God doesn’t need any embellishments. So here we go. Get ready because this is amazing!
Thursday my team went to this incredibly beautiful public park with some of the staff at Covenant Worship (CW) to prayer walk and see if the Lord lead us to anyone to talk with or pray for. We made our way to this grassy area where there was several girls talking with one another and some boys playing soccer with a plastic water bottle. Our team is an all girls team which can sometimes make things a little tricky when interacting with boys/men in India because of cultural norms and appropriateness. God totally worked this out for us by providing us with male staff from the CW to help us initiate conversations. Some of out team went to talk with the girls, some when to play soccer with the boys and me and my teammate Gabby went with Sister Madu to talk with anther girl who was sitting on a bench close by.
After a minute or two of chatting with the girl on the bench one of the brothers came over and asked us (Gabby and I) to come and pray for a man who wanted prayer. We went over to him introduced ourselves and with the help of translation were able to find out what exactly he wanted prayer for. This man has a lot of pain throughout his whole body, pain in his joints, and swelling of different body parts. He also need the assistance of a cane to be able to walk. So Gabby and I prayed. We thanked God for this man and proclaimed scripture over him. We pray for healing. For pain to go away, for swelling to go down, and for anything that was out of alignment to come back into alignment. We continued to thank the Lord for this man’s healing and continue to speak truth over this man and proclaim God’s word over him. While we were praying I felt from the Lord that this man was healed. It turns out from later conversation that Gabby felt the same. I ask our translator to ask the man how felt after praying and asked him if he could stand up without the assistance of his cane. He did slowly with some caution and guess what? THE LORD HEALED HIM!!! It was incredible! You could see the shock in his face when he realized that his pain was gone and that he could stand up with out the assistance of his cane. He couldn’t speak at first.
We celebrated and thanked God for the healing that took place. We found out after that this man knew Jesus but was still worshiping Hindu idols. This is a common practice in India because of the deep routed polytheistic culture here. I shared a little bit of my testimony with this man and he shared a little bit of his story with us. We got cut short because we were starting to get a lot of attention and there are several anti-Christian groups in India that are very active so we had to leave. I didn’t leave discouraged because I knew we had done exactly what what we needed to do and this man encounter Jesus in a way he hadn’t before and Jesus did something for this man that no Hindu god could do.
But YOU GUYS! This man was worshipping other gods and our GOD, the one true God, still healed him! He healed him because that is who He is. He healed him because He loves him. It was incredible to see the heart of the Father for this man. I am reminded how God relentlessly pursues his people because he loves us so much and is jealous for us. Even when we pursue other gods and put things in our lives above Him he continues to pursue us.
Please pray for this man. Pray that he would continue to receive more of God’s healing. Pray that the Lord would continue to reveal Himself to this man and reveal the truth to this man. Pray that this man would turn completely away from the Hindu gods and give his whole heart to Jesus. Also please be praying for the people of India. They are open to Jesus but some continue to worship Hindu gods as well. Pray that like this man they would have an encounter with Jesus that makes them turn from ever other god and worship only Jesus
