Well, as most of you know, my 11 month mission with The World Race/AIM is coming to an end. Currently I am in my final month and am just days away from returning home to the United States.

As this trip has come to a close, I have been praying about what the Lord is calling me to do next. Where shall I go? What shall I do? Though I don’t have any long term plans, I have decided to partner again with The World Race/AIM and join their relief team that is currently in Haiti. I will be leaving June 1st for one month.

With the devastating effects of the recent earthquake in Haiti, I believe this is an opportunity for the Church to step up and BE THE CHURCH, not only the lost and hurting in Haiti, but our very own sisters and brothers in Christ who are desperate for help.
I recently listened to a sermon from Mark Driscoll, Pastor at Mars Hill Church in Seattle. Mark and some of his staff went to Haiti to be there for their local church. He reported back shocking information —witchcraft and voodoo is prevalent over the entire country,. 80% of the people live in extreme poverty and most of the entire country is illiterate and uneducated. Food, clean water and basic medical care is scarce. Infrastructure is no longer existent;. People have a difficult time identifying where they even are, as any type of known landmark is destroyed and in rubble. I can only imagine what a nightmare this must be for so many people.

At a time like this, our brothers and sisters need the Church body more than ever before.

This also is an opportunity for the Church to show Jesus Christ to those who do not know Him.

One of the greatest things I’ve learned over the past 11 months is what the Church body should look like. This is why I want to go. There is a desperate need and I want to help meet it. This can be done. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, through Christ living in me, through your financial assistance and all of our intercessory prayer for the nation of Haiti.

I need to raise $2,000 to send me to Haiti for the month of June. I currently have $800 raised, leaving a need of $1,200. Would you please consider being a part of this opportunity? Please contribute to my Haiti relief effort by donating through my blog at http://jessicaphilip.theworldrace.org  .

Your giving is an act of worship. Thank you!
