Two days ago while out in the streets of Panajachel, my team was gathered together out by the city’s lake for a mid-day ‘debrief.’ After addressing some team dynamics, we spent some time in prayer together.  Just as our prayer was coming to a close, I could hear a woman crying.  I looked over and saw a woman sitting alone on the stone wall with her head in her hands sobbing. Both Cori and I felt led to go over and talk to her.  Cori wrapped her arms around her and the woman just rested her head in Cori’s arms and cried. We knew she was deeply hurt and we tried to communicate with her despite the language barrier.  She told us that her name was Florestina and that she was having problems with her spouse.  We didnt understand much after that, but inside we knew what she was grieving.  As Cori and I prayed for her, we both felt as if it was an abusive situation that she might have been in. We continued praying and holding her in our arms.  Thankfully minutes later, Tara and her team passed by.  We ran up to Tara, who we knew spoke Spanish, and asked her to talk to Florestina.  Tara, without any hesitation, ran up to her, and loved on that woman. My team left, but the story continues…read what happened next on Tara’s blog.
