Dear Friends,

Yesterday my church celebrated ‘Missions Sunday”- an all day exhibition of our church’s world missions outreach. That evening I had the privilege of taking my small group of 5th grade girls that I lead in our middle school ministry around for a tour of all of the country tables that displayed their outreach.   As we were making our way to the exhibition, I wanted to make the most of this opportunity with the girls and so I thought I would ask them a few questions. I asked my 5th graders, “What is a mission trip?” The first answer I was given was “It’s when you go to another country and help people.” Another girl shared, “It’s when you share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Good answers girls! I then posed the question, “Why do we go on mission trips and why do we support missionaries?” My beloved girls couldn’t quite come up with an answer. I took this opportunity to share in The Great Commission. “Girls, Jesus Christ came and died on the cross for everyone! Everyone is a sinner and everyone needs to be saved, not just people like you and me here in America!” When I said that, I saw eyes open and the dialogue really started! As a follower of Jesus Christ, we are commanded to go into the nations and baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I continued, “Girls, we are all missionaries…when you are filled with the Holy Spirit and you know the Truth, you want to share that! That’s not something you would want to keep as a secret, right?” We then discussed how we are all missionaries, whether in the 5th grade classroom, in our neighborhoods or around the world.  No one is born a Christian, but rather we become Christ followers after we hear the Gospel, believe in and obey Jesus and make Him our Lord! This is why Jesus commissioned us to share the news to all the nations.

Yes, around the world to share the good news of eternal salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Well, 11 countries for The World Race. Most of the race route has been established: Nicaragua, Guatemala, Ukraine, Romania, Mozambique, Swaziland, Malawi, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. For 11 months, I’ll be caring for orphans, teaching children, aiding the homeless, and working to rebuild in communities needing disaster relief, all done in the name of Jesus.

Our God is mighty to save, and He has commissioned us to share in His saving grace.  Please SEND ME and make an eternal investment!
