I recently received the following from World Race/AIM mission headquarters:
Hebrews 11:8-10 “It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived by faith – for he was like a foreigner living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise. Abraham was confidently looking forward to a city with eternal foundations, a city designed and built by God.”
Abraham initially LEFT his home land, the familiar, and WENT to a place, the unknown. God did not give Abraham very many directions but just to GO.
Abraham had “The Obey-Now-and-Receive-Later Challenge of Faith” Genesis 12:1 tells us that the only direction that God gave to Abraham was to leave his country and people and go to a land that He would show Him. That in-between required Abraham to depend on God like he never had before.
If you read my last blog titled, “Who Signs Your Paycheck“, you can probably tell that I’ve been thinking a lot about my current place of work and how it’s effecting my preparation for this mission. I have given this much thought and prayer and I’ve decided to take the leap of faith to leave my 50 hr/week job to pursue full time support raising and preparation for this trip. (My last day will be Monday!) The time couldn’t have been any better -my mother just had extensive back surgery and now that I will be home working on my ministry work, I will be able to care for her once she returns home from the hospital, as well as for my 13 year old twin brothers, since mom will be out of commission for some time during her recovery. I find this to be very significant because earlier this summer I knew the Holy Spirit was calling me to go to Texas to be there and care for my family. I didn’t quite know how I would supposed to be there for them, but I am seeing a lot of the picture come together now!
So, just as Abraham had done, I am taking the “Obey Now and Receive Latter Challenge of Faith.” I truly believe that God has called me to this mission and I am going to walk in faith to prepare for God’s calling. A good friend of mine had shared these great words with me…For every God given VISION, there is a God given PROVISION.
