I’ve seen lots of wildlife here in Mozambique…

SNAILS:  The second day that we went to Armeni’s house
her oldest daughter comes running up to us with “presents. They were the
biggest snails I’ve ever seen in my entire life! These snails could stretch out
to be the length if not longer than my hand! After a few minutes of looking at
them she took them from us, stood in front of a cement wall, and smashed them!
Natalie and I sat there shocked. As she got ready to throw the second one, we
started yelling for her to stop. With no mercy she rears back and smashes a
second one exploding the shell and body all over the ground. Poor snails didn’t
even see it coming. They didn’t have a chance. She was from then on known as
the Snail Serial Killer.

WORMS: Samantha’s birthday
was on our second off day and our team went into town followed by the beach.
Two other teams that are also in Beira came to surprise her at the beach. It
was a wonderful day until we learned about the worms that live in your feet and
hands! We had the other teams look at our hands and feet to see if we had any.
Of course, lucky me, I had a lovely present living in my foot! SICK!! Linsey
and Samantha got lovely surprises too. Thank you Antonio for performing surgery
on our feet with a needle and tweezers to get them out!

ROOSTERS: This month I
haven’t needed to use my watch as an alarm because the neighbor’s rooster that
makes sure I’m up by 5:45am does a better job than my watch could ever do. Each
morning when I crawl out of my tent I take a few minutes and just stare at the
rooster. I imagine a huge Chick-fil-A symbol over his head and think about a #5
8-pack. Yea… I’ve been gone from home a while! I consider that rooster for
breakfast every single morning.

(Once again… Sorry but pictures will be coming soon when computers stop hating me!)
