This month we have been in Manga Village of Beira, Mozambique. Our
contact Elias was given a vision from the Lord to start an orphanage about 30
minutes away (walking) for the children of Beira. Since we’ve been here in
Beira 4 men have died, leaving their wives and children behind. The idea of
this orphanage isn’t just for children without a mother and a father but those
that have just one parent as well. For the last 3 weeks we’ve been going over
to this plot of land. We spent the first few days praying over the land, the
area around it, and the people in the village. We asked God to guide us and
give us direction in how we should start and move on this project. It’s been
really interesting how God’s just spoken to us through our time here. Some days
God tells us to just pray over the people or to go and speak with them. Some
days it’s highlighting bibles and going to different houses to visit with the
people. Then other days it’s working on the land, using a machete to cut the
grass. Yes, you read correctly a machete. To add in another challenge on top of
using a machete to cut the grass, it’s customary for girls to wear skirts here,
so while wearing skirts past your knees makes things interesting. I’ve decided that I have serious respect for the women of Mozambique… working in skirts and carrying 30 litres of water on your head. These are two things that I will admit that I am NOT good at. Karaline and I tried to carry these buckets on our head once… Lets just say they never asked us to do that again.
(Pictures coming soon… when all computers stop hating me!)
