Hey Everyone! I’m Jessica!
((Random Fact #1: I have never written a blog before!! So… hopefully over time these will begin to look a little bit better!))
Let’s start with the basics…
I am 21 years old and currently live in Statesboro, GA, where I attend school at Georgia Southern University!
I was born in Charleston, SC and was raised in Brunswick, GA. I lived there with my mom, my sister, my grandma, and my uncle! Crazy kind of mix, but I LOVE MY FAMILY and wouldn’t change it for the world.
((This is my younger sister, Frances, and I in Chinatown of San Fran, Cali))
Like most college students, I’ve changed my major a few times. I was undeclared for the first 2 years, then Child and Family Development, then Therapeutic Recreation, then Recreation Tourism and Community Service, then a double major in CHFD and RECR, now… General Studies (emphasis areas: psychology, child & family development, and recreation).
Even after all those changes I’m still graduating on time.. Actually perfect timing. I will graduate May 2011.. just 2 months before leaving for the World Race!!
My Testimony (in short)…
I grew up going to church, but I never knew in my heart what it meant to have a relationship with Christ. I figured the relationship was going to church on sundays and wednesday and saying prayers before bedtime. In high school, I didn’t ever get into trouble… I guess you could say I was a “goody two shoes” or “straight-edge.” Then when I came to college I separated from my close group of friends.. and ended up getting caught up with the wrong crowd. A friend told me about First Baptist Church in Statesboro and I figured I’d check it out. I went on a few trips with them but I was still allowing everything in my life to come before Christ. My third trip with FBC I went to the Dominican Republic. I had never been to a different country and had no idea what to expect. This is where I learned about having a relationship with our Lord. My heart on fire for God when I came back.. but I allowed myself to continue to get caught back up in my old life. The following year (spring break 2010) I went back to the Dominican Republic.. and this time I didn’t come back the same! God told me that it was time to change… I felt Him telling me that He had great plans for my life.

Since then God has put me in a house with 3 strong Christian women and surrounded me with wonderful friends, who have been a great influence on my life. I love them very much!!
((My wonderful roomies… Aubree, Lindsay, and Candyn))
God has truly changed me and continues to work in my life everyday!! I am so excited to see what else God has in store with this opportunity for me to go on the World Race!
“Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God has given us a new birth because of His great mercy. We have been born into a new life that has a confidence which is alive because Jesus Christ has come back to life.” -1Peter 1:3
