The last few days I have gotten the privilege of visiting two different orphanages here in Ho Chi Mihn City. Both orphanages we have gone to have been with handicapped children. Some with Down syndrome or other mental illnesses, some with deformities, some diseases, and others where just abandoned. In Ho Chi Mihn City a person in only supposed to have two children. If they have more then they get benefits taken away. That’s why there are so many orphans here.

As I sit here I hurt because I have a heart for these children. When I look into their eyes I see Christ and the love he has for his kids.  These children deserve to be known. They deserve to be loved and to have an identity. They are not just mere orphans but they are children of the Lord most high, his precious ones. There are kids like this all over the world just waiting for somebody to love them waiting for somebody to bring the love of Christ to them.

The good news is there is great power in prayer. That’s the hope I can give to them, knowing that maybe I can’t save but there is somebody who can. The Lord loves them unconditionally. So that’s what I do is pray. Every child I get to hold I pray over them that they will feel the love of God and that they will come to know him. Below is a quote by Tara Stephenson,

“I prayed over one baby that he would get a true picture of what a father looks like. His heavenly father. Because I know that the babies may never have a real earthly dad. So I pray that they know the father how we know them.  It may even be a better picture because that is all they know of a dad.”

I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul.
 Psalms 31:7

How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
