“And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him.  For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean and our bodies have been washed with pure water.  Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm,
for God can be trusted to keep His promise.”  Hebrews 10:21-23

Over the course of the last few months, the Lord has been teaching me a great deal about the issue of trust.  He has shown me both the need for and the value in trusting my coaches, my team, my squad, my friends, my family and most importantly, HIM.  As I come to recognize my lack of trust in man, the Lord has revealed to me that this lack of trust is rooted in the need to learn what it means to truly trust HIM.

The bible gives numerous examples of God calling His children to trust Him; for example, Abraham, Noah, the Israelites, and all Christians of the Old and New Testament who believed the words the prophets wrote about the coming of a Savior.

The Lord, in His grace and mercy honors His children when they chose to trust Him and to trust in His promises. The Lord provided a sheep for Abraham so he would not have to sacrifice his son Isaac, He sent the rain after Noah built the ark and protected Noah and his family from the flood, He sent Moses to free the Israelites from slavery, and brought them to the promised land, and He sent His son Jesus to save the world, thus fulfilling the Old Testament prophesies.

In the last month, the Lord has made it more apparent to me just how He is fulfilling His promises in my life.  A perfect example of this was displayed in our search for this month’s ministry.  We were told a few months ago that our third month in Europe was going to be a “Pioneer Month”-a month in which we were responsible for finding a new ministry contact to work with.  Our team spent a great deal of time in prayer asking the Lord to lead us to the ministry He had in mind for us.  We prayed that He would open and close all doors necessary to get us to the location He wanted us to be for our 9th month of ministry.  We sent out numerous e-mails to potential contacts, prayed and waited for a reply.  At the end of last month, we found ourselves with two ministries, both of which required a leap of faith for us to commit.  One meant the Lord would have to lay out ministry details which were still up in the air at the time and the other meant the Lord would have to provide an affordable place to stay.  So, with a lot of prayer and the flipping of a special Romanian coin, we settled on Germany, and prayed that the Lord would help us find a place to live.

“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.  Keep on seeking and you will find.  Keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives, everyone who seeks, finds.
And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”  Luke 11: 9-10

The day following our decision to pursue ministry in Germany, the Lord opened the door-He provided a 3-bedroom apartment for us to stay in, for FREE (apparently, in Germany this is extremely rare).
In addition to paving the way for our ministry in Germany, the Lord proved himself trustworthy yet again in the lives of our contacts when He sent them a team.  Upon arriving in Germany, our contact’s wife, Lori, picked us up at the airport and told us the story from their end about the Lord’s orchestration of our ministry together.  According to Lori, their ministry team was praying intently last month that the Lord would bring them laborers to help them in their ministry at the University of Cologne.  Less than 2 weeks after petitioning the Lord with that prayer, our team contacted Lori and Daniel…and here we are.

I am aware that the Lord does not have to prove Himself to be worthy of trust in any of our lives, but the way He answered our prayers as well as Lori and Daniel’s has shown me that He is MORE than trustworthy and has reminded me, once again, of His enduring love and faithfulness.

What does this have to do with learning to trust man?  EVERYTHING

As I walk with full trust in the Lord, I find that it is easier to trust in man and to have grace when that trust is betrayed.  It does not eliminate hurt, past or present but it does make it easier to forgive and put the people God has brought into my life back at
a “10” (on the trust meter that is).

How is the Lord calling YOU to place your trust in Him?
