What if just for today a precious little girl born into an impoverished life got to feel like a princess? What if for just today the strange foreigners walking by actually stopped and got to know her? What if they hugged her and let her know she has value and showed her that she is worthy and loved? What if they truly SAW her instead of hurrying by? What if for just today her life is different… better?

On our walk from our house to the orphanage where we are serving this month there are so many children that come running excitedly to greet us as we pass by. "Hello!" "How are you?" "What is your name?" That is as far as their English gets them in a conversation, but there are still plenty of ways we can be friends. High fives, hugs, dancing in the street, walking hand in hand…. who needs to talk anyway?

The Lord has really opened my heart to these little ones in our community here in Cambodia. It reminds me of my relationship with my Savior. Who am I that the God of the universe would take the time to stop and show love to me? Who am I that He would want to get to know me? But my Jesus shows up everyday ready to extend new grace and show His love in special ways without fail. My Jesus loves to dance with me on the rooftop of our house in the evenings. So how can I dream of thinking that I don't have time to stop and show these kids some love and affection? If God has time for me, surely I have time for these children that so desperately need to know that someone sees them, there is hope for them. What if just for today, I can make their day brighter? I can make them feel special and make them smile? Well then just for today, just for this month, I will do that. Maybe that is the only reason God has me in Cambodia this month, to smile, shout hello, and hug a neighbor kid. And that is good enough for me. Pass it on 🙂
