Firstly, I would like it to be said that posting blogs from internet cafe’s is not ideal. I cannot access my hard drive and therefore get to type this blog again. Undoubtably I will forget parts, and there will be no pictures, but I wanted to post a blog to let you know what we’ve been doing here in Tanzania this month.
Seminars. A guest speaker from South Africa joined us the first several days of being in Morogoro, which got us out of speaking duty at the seminars planned that week. We did still have to attend, and though on the first day here we informed Pastor Agnell that singing is not one of our strengths we have sung at every service we have been to so far. Oh well.
Debate. Our first Saturday here we were invited to a debate between Christians and Muslims organized by another World Race team here in Morogoro. Over 100 Muslim university students showed up. My team went more for support, but 4 of us ended up speaking at some point. The topics were “Inerrancy of Scripture” and “The Religion of Jesus Christ.”
Shaun and
Erica both posted blogs about the debate.
Divine. In June I prayed about possibly opening a non-profit cafe in teh future to support ministries like SHE and Threads of Hope. I prayed specifically that I would get a name for the cafe before pursuing it. On Sunday I got the name “Divine Cafe.” Divine means holy, set apart for a greater good. At service that night the guest speaker mentioned several times “BEGIN A BUSINESS!” So I said “ok.” I’ll be looking into going back to school to get a business degree when I return home. Another blog will be posted sometime with more details. Surprise!
We have done several school visits, as well as walking around our neighborhood talking to locals. We are headed to a village for a couple days this weekend, and likely a safari before month’s end. We fly to India, for month 11, our final month on the World RAce, on July 31st. Thanks for all your prayers and support!
