Quick facts about our upcoming month in Honduras:

We are living on ‘La Finca’ which is a country house on a farm about a half hour from Tegucigalpa.

Sometimes the water stops working for a couple hours…hence no flushing of the toilets.

Sometimes the electricity stops too.

It’s remarkably chilly for Central America…but I’m getting to wear all my warm clothes!  Didn’t pack them for nothing!

McDonalds makes me feel like I’m back in America…with all the Lady Gaga they’re playing.

There are a lot of kids in El Horno, the town walking distance from La Finca.  We’re going to have a great time getting to know them.

I left my headlamp in El Salvador…awesome.

We’ll be teaching English, working on the farmhouse, investing in kids and communities, and encouraging Tony (our contact).

6 young boys have captured our hearts*

Honduras driving is not as scary as El Salvador driving…but still a bit crazy!

*Prayers: Tony, our contact, has been working very closely with 6 boys (Carlos, Fernando, Henry, Josue, Cristopher, and Luis) between the ages of 11 and 17.  We got to meet them when they came to spend the night at the house Friday night, and will get to spend a lot of time with them this month.  They are incredible boys.  They come from the community of Los Pinos, one of the poorest sections of Honduras, and most dangerous.  Tony has been working with them, getting them used to affection, showing them Jesus in his life and actions.  Most of the boys will ‘do Thinner’ which means they sniff paint thinner, sometimes all day long.  So, if you would, pray for them.  Pray that they would be able to stand up to temptation.  Pray that God would show Himself to them, even though their circumstances don’t show it.  Pray that God would use us to love on them and change their lives in ways that last far beyond our time in Honduras.  Pray that God would raise them up to be leaders in their community and families.  Pray for our patience as they ocassionally slip back into doing thinner.

Below is a video Erica took of our house in El Salvador…another Cribs is coming up live from La Finca!
