Goodbye Guate…uh…El Salvador! Hello Nicar….uhhh…HONDURAS! They told us to hold everything with an open hand, so God can do what He wants… So far that means that we’re not hitting either of the first two scheduled countries! God’s doin His thang though, I’m just goin along for the ride.
What I’ve learned in El Salvador.
El Salvador has been absolutely amazing! We’ve gotten to do a huge variety of ministries, especially investing time in Teen Challenge. We’ve been to a dozen church services, often not knowing what we’ll be doing in the service until about 5 minutes prior (singing, dramas, testimonies). I’ve learned that I’m not as bad at speaking in public as I always believed I was (you might have been on to something Dr. Jones), mostly because I’m getting up and letting the Holy Spirit speak through me. Our contacts Oscar and his wife Jackie, have been wonderful hosts, having only been married 3 months when we invade their house and lives. I can’t imagine being 23, newlywed, having to cook and provide for 7 Americans. They’ve done a fantastic job, and we’ve really formed a great relationship with them, despite the fact that neither of them speak much English…at all… They’ve told us that they’ll be going with us on the next 10 months of our journey in prayer, and they’re the kind of people you want praying for you! We’ve been able to get into a lot of schools to present the Gospel and a lot of churches to encourage. We pray that the next team coming in next month will be able to continue where we’ve left off, and that they love it as much as we have!

What I’m looking forward to in Honduras:
Oh Honduras! While I was looking forward to Nicaragua, I was PUMPED to hear we’re heading to Honduras for November. For those who don’t know, in college I took two, week-long mission trips to Honduras, which were my first experiences with third world countries, and cross-cultural missions. Honduras has had a special place in my heart ever since then. Both of the kids I sponsor through Compassion are from Honduras. I look forward to continuing the ministry and impact that the teams there now have begun, continuing the relationships and discipleship. I look forward to being able to bless and encourage our ministry contact. I look forward to what God has in store for my team, as we partner with another team for the month. I look forward to the growth, spiritually and emotionally (hopefully not physically), that will take place in our lives. I look forward to possibly getting to meet my sponsored Compassion kids!!! It’s going to be a great, great month!
Prayers:
Health. I had a cold for a couple days…which just makes the day blah. So prayeres that I heal and noone else gets it.
Safety. We’ll be taking a Tika bus from El Salvador to Honduras, and then another form of transportation in Honduras. Driving in Central America is NUTS!!!!
People we’ll be working with in Honduras, that they would be open to us and help us grow as much as we hope to help them grow in faith.
Families and friends back home-it’s not easy for us to be so far away-so peace…
