I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve heard that question “are you ready for your trip?”
My answer:
“Yes…and no… Yes because I have my funding, I have my shots, my insurance, malaria medicine, plane ticket to LA, backpack, supplies, passport, Living Will, Power of Attorney and my giant ziplock baggies.
I’m excited beyond explanation to see what God has in store for the next 11 months of my life. 10 months ago I had no idea what the World Race even was. 9 months ago I applied and got accepted. For the last nine months I have been eagerly awaiting October. Somehow, it’s September 13, and my nine months of waiting has dwindled to a mere 19 days! Tomorrow is my last day working at Target, after 3 years. My last day at Borders is Thursday. It’s crazy to think that this part of my life, this chapter if you will, is coming to an end. I’m anxious for the next chapter, but I can’t say that I’m looking forward to saying the goodbyes. Yeah, we’ll have skype and email and occasionally Facebook…but that’s a meager replacement to real interaction with friends and family. Praise God I have such an incredible squad and team to experience the same feelings and emotions with me, and to remind me that I’m not doing this trip for me and my life, but for Him and His Glory. So yes, I am ready for my trip, and not at the same time. But, ready or not, October 2nd is coming…and with God in the lead, and my team by my side, I guess I’ll take on the nations 🙂
