This month has been pretty smooth sailing so far. Peru is a lot more western culture than Bolivia was. We are about 20 minutes from the beach at our ministry site in Trujillo. The landscape is unique with the beach to one side, huge Andes mountains in the distance, and a desert climate. I have enjoyed putting on a Vacation Bible School for the neighborhood children. One thing has been heavy on my heart though; school.

This is the first August since I was four that I haven’t started school. My heart is truly in pieces. I love school. I love learning. I love my friends. I love OSU. As my friends have been moving back to their houses in Stillwater and starting recruitment I found myself wishing that I was there with them. I have been trying to stay off of the Internet as much as possible because it makes me sad. My team reminded me that even though I was wishing I could be in Stillwater, my friends at OSU were wishing that they could be on an amazing adventure in Peru.

I am just so excited for everyone that is starting school this year. OSU is an amazing place to discover who you really are, make lifelong friendships, and learn (in and out of the classroom). I had a great run at Oklahoma State and wouldn’t change it for the world. I jumped for everything that I wanted and sometimes I fell but sometimes I flew. I learned so many great lessons at OSU and I just have to realize that I can still be a student now, it’s just in a different way. God has been teaching me so many things on this trip and I have no idea whether His path for my life will lead me back to OSU or not but until then, I’m missing all of you and Go Pokes!

Ciao from Trujillo,

Jessica
