No, this isn’t a blog about the Varsity in Atlanta.  For those not familiar with this local delicasy, the historical grease-pit is known for asking customers “Whadda ya have? Whadda ya have?” as they approach the counter to order onion rings, hot dogs, slushies & the like.  This blog is about the gifts & talents YOU have and the ones I have.

Sunday’s message at church was filled with the phrase “Que tienes?” meaning “What do you have?”.  The story is found in Mark 6:30-44 where Jesus asked the disciples to see what they had to feed the 5000+ crowd that had gathered to hear Him preach.  They only found 5 loaves of bread & 2 fish.  Even though the amount seemed impossibly small, Jesus used it to feed & fill the crowd.  Similarly, God asks us, “What do you have?” Even though He already knows the answer, He asks us to step out in faith that the meager gifts we have to offer will be sufficient for the tasks He has in store for us. I am learning on this trip that although I am feeling like my 5 loaves & 2 fish worth of talent will be totally insufficient for the 5000+ God will place in my path this year, He will magnify the blessing so people will be full & even have excess.  He is able to use what we have to offer.  Use the gifts & talents He has given you to their fullest! Let me know what He is calling you to do with your talents.  I love to hear how He’s using His diverse body of people.  🙂
