Well, so it seems that I may have not mentioned enough that I am planning to take a short term mission trip to Cambodia this July…yes, that’s just a couple of months before the World Race.  Two different trips but similar mission efforts.  We have a small team heading over there to serve for a couple of weeks with my friend Heather who I met while serving in the kitchen together on a Tres Dias weekend.  For anyone who’s worked one of those weekends, you know we had a real chance to bond over the serious labor of love…somehow cooks have to be the first up for the coffee, etc & it seems like one of the last to bed after everything’s cleaned & put away.  Just about the time the dishes are finished, it’s time to plate up the next meal.  Wow-I have a whole new respect for people who can do that all day.  Anyway, I digress (what’s new?)…

So, right now it looks like a lot of what we will be doing is spending time with the girls of the White Dove ministry helping them to learn life skills/a new trade as they either come out of the sex industry or before they go in (there is a focus on ministering to high risk girls).  We will have some classes-Bible, trade/skill, English, etc.  Heather is from Georgia but went to Cambodia with Youth with a Mission years ago and stayed for about 3 years.  She came back to the states to get her masters in counseling & social work to go back to the field God has called her to; she has been back for about 8 months now & will be there indefinitely.

Please keep this trip in prayer as it is also coming at a time that is very inconvenient for my new, wonderful boss (it’s just the two of us in the office).  I know God will provide for Him in my absence & I pray His blessings overflow for the decision made in faith.
