On our daily
commute into the city for ministry the other day, I was chillin on the bus
listening to my iPod. Here in Bulgaria, no one really makes eye contact or
talks on public transportation. Being American, I was nodding along to my
music, lip-syncing. One of my favorite songs came on and I was giddy with joy.
My favorite line played sweetly into my ears: “Now once upon a time is still
the perfect line to tell the story of hope that made me change my mind.” (Kayden’s
Joy by Sean Algaier) A friend of mine wrote it a while back for a very special
little girl who is changing the world around her. You can check out the story

The Deys
family is telling the story of hope in an incredible way.

I’ve wanted
to write a blog about hope for a few days, but I couldn’t pull it up from the
trenches of my heart. Hope is hard for me; it seems a lot easier to not hope
and be pleasantly surprised by good things rather than be disappointed when
they don’t happen. I’ve been thinking of it in a new way since a conversation
my team had the other day. Love always hopes. It doesn’t hope that someone wont
treat me badly today. It hopes that my teammates will be led by the Spirit in
every action. Do you see the difference?

It hopes for
her family not to fight today.
It hopes for redemption within her
family.

It hopes for
the man she loves to never leave her.
It hopes for the man she loves to pursue
her for the rest of her life.

It hopes for
a day where there is no internal battle.
It hopes for a day where the fruits of
the Spirit abound.

There is such
a radical difference in the ways we can look at life. 2 Corinthians 3:12 says “Therefore,
since we have such a hope, we are very bold.” We hope in Jesus steadfast love
and redemption. We dont hope in Satans lack of authority and power. What if
we focused all our hope on that? Satan would be the focus instead of Jesus. We are bold when we put our hope in Jesus because we know He wins. Paul got it right when he wrote, “So
then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding” (Romans
14:19). Yes, let us hope, but let us do it right. Hope for the best, not against the worst.

I am still about $2,200 away from my next deadline which is September 30. Please consider donating to me or spreading the word to people who may want to help. I know I have been called to this mission trip and I know there’s so much more God wants to do.
