So we are officially in Palenque, Mexico! To get here though was QUITE the journey. I arrived in miami, florida at about 11 pm..this is after my flight on american had been cancelled and my mom raised shenanigans until they booked me on a first class flight on continental so I would not miss my flight to mexico city (thanks mom!). We met as a team and slept in the airport and then left for mexico city at 8 am the next morning. After an 8 hour layover in mexico city, we then got on a plane and arrived in cancun. A minor mishap with none of bank accounts functioning, we then took a bus to the bus station. Half of us were able to get on a bus to palenque, while the other half had to wait until the following morning. 12 hours later, our bus breaks down on the side of the road for four hours. Fortunately, we were able to split up into taxis and miraculously all make it to palenque. The other group we had to leave behind did not make it until this morning (a full day after we did). As crazy as it was, it was really quite fun!
I am very excited to finally be here and learn what God has in store for us this year. We have started training and making contacts in town. More updates to come!!
