This is my last week here in the Dominican Republic and I am so sad to leave, it went by to fast. This past weekend we went to a beautiful town higher in the mountains. We got to reconnected with another team and go hiking and relax. There were several moments where I was just in awe that this is where I was. We picked passion fruit, bananas, avocado, and coffee beans. I love passion fruit and the coffee beans when green are sweet.
The Lord has been using my “ hot hands for healing, I have had the opportunity to pray over so many people this past week and my faith has been increased so much, headaches and stomach aches have been healed instantly and I just feel so blessed to be used in that way.
There is so much I am going to miss about this place, the market, the fresh everything that was just picked or pulled from the ground that morning that is so amazing for someone who loves to cook, like myself. Walking everywhere and having the most amazing view of the mountains, the random guys that ride by on horses or mules. The farm animals that live everywhere, seriously there is a goat that lives in an apartment across the street. The coffee, the rusty metal roofs, the pastel colors, the tropical flowers and palm trees, the afternoon rain that comes almost every day, and the humble way of life here.
Mostly I am going to miss the people, the teachers and cooks at the school we are serving at who so graciously have invited us to their homes to eat and spend time, Miguel who is the handy man for the Church, School, and our apartment who is always filled with joy and never fails to great me by name though he knows no English and I no Spanish. Meco, our contact, pastor and friend here who has such a passion for Jesus he pours his love out on this community in so many ways, he is so genuine, caring and loving, I cannot say enough good about this man he has made our stay here so wonderful. Last but certainly not least Mayi who is our translator, but so much more than that, I love this girl so much, she has a servants heart, the sweetest spirit, a heart for the nations and so much compassion, I will miss her most of all. Without Mayi I would not have understood anything or been capable of communicating at all, she brings me joy.
Next weekend we hop a bus to Haiti, I am not sure yet what that is going to look like, but I am positive myself and my team will need prayer, I am blessed to be with a group of women with amazing discernment, pray for us that we hear the Lord and we are obedient without hesitation in all situations and that the joy of the Lord be our strength. Sending much Love home.
