Here I am in the Dominican Republic! I am living in a 3 bedroom apartment with my five team mates and our translator Mayi, she is wonderful and has a heart for Africa like myself, she has blessed us so much already. We are working with Compassion International and I am so blessed to be teaching art to the smaller children as well as serving and cooking meals. I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better fit for myself.
I am staying in this town surrounded by mountains, palm and fruit trees everywhere, chickens in the street, more motorcycles than cars, rusty metal roofs, and pastel buildings. I’ve eaten the best tacos ever, fresh pineapple and bananas and the coffee is sooo good!
The people are amazing everyone wants to feed you and the women greet you with a hug and kiss on the cheek. The pastor of the church, Meco, has been so wonderful, gracious and welcoming, he also speaks English which is so helpful for me since I speak almost no Spanish, I am learning some though out of necessity.
I am so blessed to have a bed, a shower, coffee, wifi, a gracious host, an amazing ministry and an awesome team. So far an easy transition and I am thankful. Thanks all for continued prayers!
