Everyone on the H squad (plus other teams from other squads on the race at the moment) were living in a small farming village of Viile Tecci, Romania for the past 3 weeks.  We did several labor projects and homevisits and preaching around the community.  One of the things I loved the most was getting to spend some time with children who really wanted to spend quality time with us.  I fell in love with these three children in particular, Paula, Catalina, and Nicolet.

A lot of the time these children just wanted me to come and sit with them by the river (a dirty river that wasn’t pretty at all, but they enjoyed throwing things in it and just sitting there with me.  They knew a little bit of English and tried in vain to teach me Romanian.  I have definitely discovered that I am no good at learning foreign spoken languages!  We did sing some High School Musical songs together, though…strange the way you can connect with children around the world!

There were other times we went on walks together or played games like “Duck, Duck, Goose” and “Hide ‘n’ Seek”.  It was a lot of fun and I appreciated how welcoming and warm-hearted they were to me.  They definitely were sad to see us go, and I was sad to say good-bye.  But alas, it had to be done.  I trust that God will continue to take care of these children and pray that they will  know Him and follow Him.
