Being an American, white woman in the Dominican Republic makes it difficult to walk down the street without being whistled at or looked at by several men.  They even have this annoying hissing thing that they do that drives me insane.  I can´t stand it.  That has been one the biggest struggles for me here.  I know that there is a lot of lust and the like going on in America, but it manifests itself differently here in the DR.  Boys at a young age are being taught to look at woman as sexual objects.  Boys as young as 8 have tried to touch me inappropriately or have made disturbing kissing faces at me.  It breaks my heart.  I have an 8-yr old brother at home and hope that he stays innocent about such matters for a long, long time.  I do still love the people here, though.   However,  I feel the need to be more withdrawn from the boys and definitely the men,  but I still pray that they will hear the gospel and that God will work in their hearts.  Please pray that the guys on our squad will be able to reach the men and boys that God brings into our path.
