We’ve made it!! We are finally beginning this crazy adventure called THE WORLD RACE!! I left for LAX at 3 am and my family was nice enough to stay awake, help me finish packing, and take me to the airport. They stood behind security waiting for me to get to my gate ( very cute).
I had a layover and didn’t get into LAX till 11am and had to wait till 4pm for the rest of my team. I enjoyed my final Starbucks Frappachino and decided to purchase a few books. The first book I came across was “Forgotten God” which is by Francis Chan. I always wanted to read this because I really enjoyed Crazy Love and I want to develop my relationship with the Holy Spirit.
The 2nd book I picked up is “The reason for God” which I later found out, is written by Tim Keller who is the pastor at my church in the city (Redeemer).
Three strange things happened in the airport, all which confirmed I am supposed to do this thing…
a) I met a man whose son was affiliated with Francis Chan, and he asked me why I was reading the book. We talked for a bit, and he was a great Christian man. He also donated $40 towards my mission!
b) The man sitting on the left of me on the plane was reading a book about how you can do anything if you believe in God, I prayed for him.
c) The girl sitting on my right works for Youth with a Mission…we happen to be staying at their site in New Zealand!
There isn’t too much to say since I just got here a few hours ago. I explored a bit and saw an amazing field of daisies, laughed with my Squad and gave 101 hugs, and pitched my tent which will be my humble abode. Im excited to see what the race has in store for me…
I really miss my family and friends, but I wouldn’t trade doing this for anything in the world 🙂
p.s. New Zealanders have AWESOME accents
p.p.s. We have like ZERO internet…so I have very limited access but Mom you can Call AIM and send my Malaria meds there…and they will bring it to me on the field. We can’t have mail sent directly to us, so call AIM and they will help you 🙂
Love you guys!! 10 1/2 months to go
