Cambodia is hot.
We’ve been here for nearly a week & I’ve almost grown accustomed to the sweaty glossy film covering every inch of my body. With memories of the Philippines still fresh on my heart, I am slow to transition in my blog-I could write about, the orphanage, KIM, the Long family, & the beautiful people for ages. I truly loved that place & know it will always hold a special significance in my heart.
But the time for new adventures has arrived & I am diving into the next country, the next unique culture. Our team received a blessing in disguise when we were greeted to Cambodia with news of a ministry contact mix up. Somehow communication lines failed & we ended up “ministryless”. Though we were soon assigned to a new location, we were not allowed to start until this weekend- giving our team a few days of mini vacation. We spent the first day on a tour of Phnom Penh, the nation’s capital, soaking in the brutal history at the genocide museum & killing fields.
We then ventured into the city of Siem Reap where we were able to tour Angkor Wat, one of the 7 manmade wonders of the world. I encourage you to do some research on these magnificent temples if you are curious. They are beautifully mysterious & I absolutely loved exploring the ruins.
Mini vacation time is over & in a few hours my team will head on to Kampong Cham to begin ministry. We will be working teaching English in the school & doing evangelism with the local church. There will be no electricity & no running water; therefore one could most certainly deduct that there will also be no internet .While the situation can appear intimidating, I am really excited to be “roughing it” for a while. It will be an interesting experience, that’s for sure.
Like Australia, I plan to post blogs retrospectively; however, I hope in a much more timely fashion. Please keep my team & I in your prayers.
Till we meet again.
