As night falls over the church you can hear the buzz of excitement from the people of Blantyre, Malawi. Can you image being 25 years old and just receiving your very first bible?
I sat on a bamboo mat on a dirt floor of a church made of plastic and few sheets of metal holding a sleeping child just soaking in the excitement of it all. In this precious moment I couldn’t help but become overwhelmed with how great God is, how great these people are, and how great life is.
Through your help we were able to raise about $2700 which purchased 329 bibles in their native language of Chichewa. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This month The Fellowship (my new team name) was able to experience some really awesome things! Our host was the Ghent family which was Pastor, his wife and their two grown children. Pastor was very insistent that we use our gifts to help his ministry. We ended up deciding to do seminars at the various church’s he oversees.
Bethel Chapel Mission is the name of this organization and we got to visit five of the church’s. We traveled about every three days, one day of an adult seminar the next for children and then the last for an open air revival.
My time here in Malawi will never be forgotten. The beautiful people of this country have taught me possibly the greatest lesson I could ever learn; joy. Most of the ladies work in their corn fields from sunup to sundown with a few breaks for food or to check on the children. How can they be so happy all the time?
These people have Jesus and something that many of us have forgotten is that He is all we need! They have such joy in everything they do because they truly believe it is all a gift from God and his blessings over their lives. These people live on roughly $30 a month but would also give you the shirt of their back if you needed it. They give without ceasing even when they have so little.
Something that I will take away from this month is to choose joy, in every situation and circumstance. We have so many things to be thankful why sacrifice your joy to focus on the bad things.
We head to Zambia on Sunday, please keep my squad in your thoughts and prayers and we travel to a new country and start new ministries. This upcoming month we will be working with Kids Club International, not sure what that entails yet but we are very excited!!
